Look no further – BV Humane has a place for you! If you're over the age of 16 (volunteers 13–15 are welcome, but require parent participation), you can sign up as a BV Volunteer!

In several ways, volunteers� love and attention heals the animals at BVHumane Society. One way is that with more attention, and training the volunteers make the dogs more adoptable. I notice firsthand as a volunteer the changes in the dogs after the volunteers train the dogs to sit with a biscuit reward.

The 500 club of the Benicia Vallejo Humane Society began in October of 2003.

�We started the 500 Club as a first step to make a difference in the number of stray and unwanted animals in our community.� Says Peter Wilson, Director of Humane Services for the Benicia Vallejo Humane Society. Our goal is to have 500 donors each year donate a minimum of $100 dollars to the club. Those who need assistance with Spay/Neuter of their animals are able to purchase a voucher to at low cost to spay/neuter or in some cases there is no cost to the pet guardian.

Senate Bills Signed for Protection of Pets

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed legislation designed to protect pets from overheating in vehicles. Senate Bill 1806, written by Senator Liz Figueroa (D-Fremont) now makes it a crime for pet owners to carelessly leave animals unattended in vehicles during dangerous conditions, such as hot weather.
