Cosmo A "Good Old Dog" Who Needs A Home, by Stephen Kellam

BV Humane doesn’t only rescue healthy hearty dogs, sometimes we have to take in battered wrecks who are near to death.   You have read here about Polka Dot-with the broken knee, and others with illness and injury.   Now we have Cosmo.

What's this I'm smelling? I'm alive!!
Cosmo came from the Contra Costa Shelter.   According to them, he was taken to the euthanasia room 4 different times-and each time he was brought back alive because ‘he was just such a nice dog-I couldn’t do it’.

So BV Humane took him in and have been trying to get him fit to adopt.   He was a real mess-covered with mats and dirt, and very unsteady on his legs too.

It’s been six weeks of good food, a warm bed, and exercise, but look at Cosmo now!

All I Need is Love!

It turns out Cosmo wasn’t really ill-just old and tired and sore.   We got some weight off him, gave him a daily baby aspirin for the old joints, and now he runs and plays and is even trying to jump.

So--now it’s time for Cosmo to get a real home of his own.   He is sweet, just a little clingy, neat and quiet.   He is totally housebroken.   He needs a little boost to get in the car but otherwise is fine.

Cosmo has obviously been somebody’s dog and something happened.   He is purebred Old English Sheepdog, with great markings and huge dark eyes.   If he keeps exercising and watches his diet there is no reason he can’t go on being a good dog for years.

So if you have a nice place, warm, not too many stairs, will you share it with a really great old dog, and write the end to this wonderful story of rescue and recovery.   To meet Cosmo, call the BV Humane at 707 745 7905 or call me (Stephen) at 707 812 4328.
